| Description: | WORCESTER CONTRA DANCE, Sat. 09/09/2023 TIME: Dance 7:30-10:30 pm [Intro session 7:15 pm] WHERE: Wesley United Methodist Church's Gymnasium, 114 Main Street, Worcester, MA 01608. ALL ARE WELCOME! There are NO Restrictions! We often switch partners after every dance so there is no need to bring a partner, and no experience is needed to have a fantastic time! CALLER: STEVE HOLLAND. Steve is a modern contra dance caller, calling dances for all levels from the novice to the expert with dances ranging from traditional reels, southern style squares to the most current contra dances. LIVE MUSIC: with "JUMPSTART": JumpStart was formed 15 years ago after an M.I.T. contra dance when Gene Albert (bass), Paul Lizotte (fiddle) , and Victor Troll (piano) decided to continue what had been a chance grouping. Then in January of 2008, Paul took over the Mill City Dance in Manchester, NH, and JumpStart became the house band,! These three will have you not only dancing but slapping your feet to their beat! ADMISSION: (your choice) $10 - $12 p.p., $6 - $8 students, families $25. Donations are gratefully appreciated to keep our dance going! FOOD! Donations of snacks for the break are wanted and gleefully appreciated! ROLE TERMS are: "Ladies & Gents" but dancers are welcome to choose whatever role their heart desires. CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Clothing is casual. Please wear non-street shoes that move easily on the floor (rubber soled sneaker are discouraged but some do wear them even though it makes dancing harder). PARKING: There is plenty of parking behind the church by driving up State Street or up Gertrude Street.
