Description: | Join the Shrewsbury Public Library with attorney Thomas J. Carey, Jr. for a talk on the trial of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, one of the most widely publicized cases in Massachusetts history. The two were convicted of the murder of two men during a robbery and executed in 1927, despite widespread concerns that the trial had been unfair. The Sacco and Vanzetti case has long been considered a blot on the reputation of the judicial system. What lessons can be learned from looking back at the Sacco-Vanzetti case nearly a century later? Was it unique to its own era, or could something similar happen again today? This program will take place in person at the library; please register to attend here: https://shrewsburyma.assabetinteractive.com/calendar/the-sacco-and-vanzetti-case-an-enduring-lesson |
