| Description: | MYSTIC CONTRA DANCE "The Pie Dance", Sat. 07/22/2023 TIME: Dance 7:30-10:30 pm [Intro session 7:15 pm] WHERE: Groton Center's community meeting hall @ 102 Newtown Road, Groton, CT 06340. ALL ARE WELCOME! We often switch partners after every dance so there is no need to bring a partner, and no experience is needed to have a fantastic time! Role Terms are: "Ladies & Gents" but dancers are welcome to choose whatever role their heart desires. This dance is to honor BARRY SCHUMAN one of our dance organizers, whom we lost May 13. "Barry had a big heart and his eyes twinkled with humor. He loved telling jokes and limericks. We will miss his silly grin and giggle. Barry's compassion for people and non-judgemental attitude left a deep impression on us. We love him so much and he will be greatly missed." Option to come early to share memories! CALLER: SANDY LAFLEUR, plus guest callers! LIVE MUSIC: "FIRST TIME STRING BAND": made up Sally Rogers, Howie Bursen, Deck Nieforth, and special guest Dan Lanier, will have you rushing to get on the dance floor. These four will have you not only dancing but snapping your fingers to their beat! ADMISSION: $10 adults, $7 students. & Donations gratefully accepted! HOMEMADE PIE! This month we offer blueberry pie slices! These delicious pie slices are offered at the break for $3/slice to help support the band and caller. CLOTHING & FOOTWEAR: Clothing is casual, layers are best for this invigorating exercise. Please wear non-street shoes that move easily on the floor (rubber soled sneaker are discouraged but some do wear them even though it makes dancing a bit harder). PARKING: Plenty of parking in the large parking area next to the building!
