Description: | Vacation Bible School 2023 JULY 23–27, 2023, 6:00–8:30 PM Ages 5 to 12 Greetings! It’s that time of year to seize the exciting opportunity to join us for a week of fun and adventure at Vacation Bible School for children from age 5 through age 12. The Worcester SDA Church and School is pleased to offer this event to our community and church families FREE of charge! This year’s theme is Fiercely Faithful, “God always keeps His promises!” All you need to do is register in advance to hold your child’s seat by one of two methods: (1) email us at WorcesterAirportChurch@gmail.com OR (2) call 508-892-5261 and leave a message for Marilyn and Paul. Please leave your name and number on the voicemail for Marilyn and Paul if there is no answer. This is no ordinary VBS! We’ve lined up an extraordinary desert adventure, a refreshing oasis for everyone, including: • A light meal for the children who attend • Outdoor play, games, and activity stations • Bible based sing-alongs and learning (King James Bible) • Crafts, where kids show their creative side while learning more about the daily theme. • Our very own desert Oasis for your little travelers to enjoy! • All FREE! Our dates and location will remain the same, rain or shine. Indoor stations will be in operation in the event of inclement weather. More About the Program Curriculum Join Sheba the Camel and friends as we follow Ruth and Naomi’s journey from Moab to Bethlehem. Along the way, we’ll learn all about how God always keeps His promises! Five days of Christ-centered activities will help kids see that God is always faithful. Key Verses spoken by Ruth to her mother-in-law Naomi after her husband's death: “And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me” - Book of Ruth, Chapter 1 verses 16-17, King James Bible, showing Ruth was fiercely faithful. Bible Stories that will be part of our Vacation Bible School: • Day 1: Naomi and Elimelech Leave for Moab • Day 2: Ruth Marries and Her Husband Elimelech Dies • Day 3: Ruth stays faithful to Naomi and they move to Bethlehem together • Day 4: Ruth Sleeps at Boaz’s Feet, as instructed by her mother-in-law Naomi • Day 5: Ruth Marries Boaz For you history buffs: when FDR sent Harry Hopkins to England in England's darkest hour in 1940, and FDR said England should regard Harry Hopkins as if he were FDR himself, Harry referred to the Book of Ruth in vowing American support for England in WW2. He quoted part of the key verses shown above. We were "fiercely faithful" to England and defended democracy when it mattered most, during England's darkest hour when many people thought England would fall. When WW2 began America had a very small army, smaller than Belgium, number 18 in the world, so it wasn't certain that we would succeed in helping England, but we did. |
