Description: Adélie Penguins exist only in Antarctica. The daily life of these penguins is filled with adventure and
drama, as they struggle to live and thrive in the challenging environment and changing climate of the frozen south. Author and penguin researcher Jean Pennycook lives for two and one half months every year camped near the Adélie Penguin colony at Cape Royds, Antarctica.

She has studied the behavior of the penguins as they come ashore, build nests, lay eggs, and raise their chicks for 15 years. Covid has restricted travel to Antarctica this season so Jean is working to educate others about what her science team is learning about the penguins, and how changes in their environment are effecting the lives of these remarkable birds.

Ever wonder how penguins survive in Antarctica? How are they adapting to climate change? What is it like to live and work in the penguin field station at Cape Royds? Jean will discuss 15 years of observations and trace the story of one penguin she calls Joey. You will hear about Joey and Jeans adventures as they develop their skills in surviving this harsh environment. She will share her photos, videos, and stories from the research station in Antarctica as well as from her book Waiting for Joey.

Submit your best penguin questions in advance and Jean will answer three of them live. The lucky winners will receive a copy of Waiting for Joey. Enter your questions by 10/14 when you register. Please include your first name and the state where you live with your questions.
