|Description:||Halloween Party at That's Entertainment
Pop-culture emporium That's Entertainment, located at 244 Park Avenue in Worcester, MA, invites folks of all ages to a FREE, fun-filled "Halloween Party" on Saturday, October 26th from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The store will be hosting a costume contest, signings and photo ops, as well as guest artists giving out free mini-sketches. That's Entertainment will also be giving out candy and free "Halloween ComicFest" exclusive comic books at the front counter to trick-or-treaters all day long, 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., while supplies last.
JASON VOORHEES COSPLAYER: Professional cosplayer Thomas Lavesque will be appearing as Jason Voorhees during the event!
COSTUME CONTEST: Five dollars in store credit will be given to anyone who arrives in full costume. Participants may claim their reward at the stores front counter upon arrival. They may then enter in a costume contest between 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for a chance to win one of three top prizes: $15, $25, or $50 in store credit. Costumes will be judged based on creativity and completeness.
PROFESSIONAL COSPLAY PHOTOGRAPHY: Come in a full costume and get your photo taken professionally for free by cosplay photographer Christopher Robin Wetherell.
Participants in the stores costume contest can also enter "The Greatest Halloween Costume Contest Ever!" which is each year sponsored nationally by "Halloween ComicFest". By dressing up in costume and taking a photo with one of the year's free comic books, adults and kids can enter to win a $100 or $500 shopping spree at their local comic shop, in this case, That's Entertainment!
WHAT IS HALLOWEEN COMICFEST? Celebrating its seventh year, "Halloween ComicFest" is an annual event where participating local comic shops across North America and beyond celebrate the Halloween season by giving away free comics to fans. Thats Entertainment is a participating retailer, and has added a number of unique elements to their celebration.
GUEST CREATORS: Visiting guest artists Alex Cormack and Derek Rook will be drawing free mini-sketches upon request, one per person from each artist. Guest writer Ben Goldsmith will be offering a free mini-story, which he will write for fans live upon request (one per person). Guest author Kathryn Hulick will be selling and autographic copies of her book "Strange but True:
10 of the world's greatest mysteries explained."
Kathryn Hulick is the author of Strange but True: 10 of the world's greatest mysteries explained, a book for young adults that explores the real science and history of UFOs, ghosts, Atlantis, sea monsters, psychic powers, and more. Hulick has been writing about science for kids and teens since returning from two years serving in the Peace Corps in Kyrgyzstan. She has written numerous educational books and articles about everything from fusion power to robots and dinosaurs. Alex Cormack is an American comic book illustrator. He is best known for his work on "Sink" and the "Oxymoron" series from ComixTribe and "I Play the Bad Guy" from Bliss on Tap Publishing.
Derek Rook has provided artwork for such notable works as Lucio Fulci's "Gates of Hell" and "Zombie", "The Dead", "Deadworld", and "Gore Shriek". According to Rook, He was "born and raised on comic books, 70s exploitation films and rock n' roll." Under his comic book company label, Rough House Publishing, Rook plans to release his creator-owned titles, "Beautiful Worcester" and "Angelduster."
