Description: The department of Art & design announces the 2019-2020 Art & Design Faculty Spotlight. The academic year features the artwork of Art & Design faculty member Alice Lambert. Lamberts figures allow viewers to foster empathy through recognition, which contextualizes his or her place in the world, of belonging to the universe. The challenge for her is continually present, not so much in capturing an exact likeness, but rather in focusing on the gaze, the spirit, the honesty and distinction of each model. This remains true, regardless of the pose, the surrounding details, or the technique used in the rendering of its creation. She considers each subject to be significantly unique, and believes that all which is sacred would be handled with a certain reverence.

The Department of Art & Design formalized the Faculty Spotlight program in 2016, and features a different faculty member each Academic Year. To gain insight about the selected artists interests, research, and practice, students and visitors have the opportunity to connect more deeply through this year-long visual conversation.
