Description: The market, created by Jennifer Teo during her residency at WAM, is based on a gift economy where anybody can offer tangible (ice-cream, used and/or unused clothing, plants, etc.) or intangible (i.e., a song, dance lessons, yoga, etc.) gifts to the community.

The Worcester Art Museum welcomes Richard Streitmatter-Tran from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Jennifer Teo, representing the artist collective Post-Museum of Singapore, for the 2019 Southeast Asia Artist-in-Residence collaboration with the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts and Indochina Arts Partnership. During their six-week residency at WAM, the artists will hold weekly, drop-in studio open houses for the public, meet and collaborate with local artists, give talks to area youth, engage with Art Alternatives, a partnership with the juvenile court system, and participate in the StART on the Street festival on September 15.

The Southeast Asia Artist-in-Residence Program is supported by the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Additional in-kind support is provided by the three collaborating organizations, including the Worcester Art Museum, Indochina Arts Partnership, and the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts.
