Description: The Worcester Art Museum welcomes Richard Streitmatter-Tran from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Jennifer Teo, representing the artist collective Post-Museum of Singapore, for the 2019 Southeast Asia Artist-in-Residence collaboration with the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts and Indochina Arts Partnership. During their six-week residency at WAM, the artists will hold weekly, drop-in studio open houses for the public, meet and collaborate with local artists, give talks to area youth, engage with Art Alternatives,a partnership with the juvenile court system, and participate in the StART on the Street festival on September 15.

The Southeast Asia Artist-in-Residence Program is supported by the Worcester Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Additional in-kind support is provided by the three collaborating organizations, including the Worcester Art Museum, Indochina Arts Partnership, and the Southeast Asian Coalition of Central Massachusetts.

The following programs and events will be held during the Southeast Asia Artist-in-Residency. All are free and open to the public.

Open Studios
Wednesday, August 21, 28, and Saturday, September 14, 12-2pm.
The public is invited to visit the artists in their studios, to observe their work, and engage in conversation.

The Worcester Really Really Free Market
Sunday, September 8, 11am to 3pm
Stoddard Courtyard

The market, created by Jennifer Teo during her residency at WAM, is based on a gift economy where anybody can offer tangible (ice-cream, used and/or unused clothing, plants, etc.) or intangible (i.e., a song, dance lessons, yoga, etc.) gifts to the community.

StART on the Street
Sunday, September 15

The artists will lead interactive art activities as part of Worcester's annual art festival, StART on the Street.

Third Thursday Artist Talk
Thursday, September 19, 6-8 pm

Join a combined artist talk with Richard Streitmatter-Tran and Jennifer Teo in their studios at WAM to learn about their work and reflections on their residency experience in Worcester.
