Description: Join us the 2nd Wednesday of each month to discuss a new book. In July we will be discussing Manhattan Beach by Jennifer Egan. The country is at war and Anna works at the Brooklyn Naval Yard, where she becomes the first female diver. With the atmosphere of a noir thriller, Egan’s historical novel follows Anna into a world populated by gangsters, sailors, divers, bankers, and union men. Manhattan Beach is a deft, dazzling, propulsive exploration of a transformative moment in the lives and identities of women and men, of America and the world. Call or stop by the branch to reserve your copy.
