|Description:||07-020 So you are Thinking of Beekeeping?
This 4 night course is designed for individuals interested in knowing what is involved in managing their own Honey Bee hives. This course will cover the Biology of a Honey Bee colony and the basic management of a Honey Bee colony. The course will begin with a year in Beekeeping, what is inside a bee hive, and the important roles that Honey Bees play in our world. Class two will cover the equipment needs of managing a Honey Bee hive and associated costs. Class three will cover how to get a hive started and how a hive develops. Class four will cover the many challenges of Beekeeping - diseases, pathogens, and bears. The course is designed for beginners and people who have been keeping bees for one year. 4 weeks/6 hours
Mary Duane has been keeping bees since the summer of 2009. She currently manages 15 hive of her own and oversees many hives for others. She is an EAS certified Master beekeeper, the current Vice President of the Massachusetts Beekeepers Association and a former President of the Worcester County Beekeepers Association. She lectures on Beekeeping practices around New England.
