Description: 07-175 Knitting for Beginners

There are many reasons to learn how to knit. It has shown to decrease stress, improve concentration and lower blood pressure. Making a beautiful item by hand instills a sense of pride and enhances ones self esteem. You will learn how to choose the type and sizes of needle and yarn. Covered in the class will be types of cast on, basic stitches, finishing and some decorative techniques. Join this class for a fun way to learn this craft! After first class, students will be encouraged to choose a project and purchase their own materials. 4 weeks/8 hours

Shannon Rice has been knitting for 12 years, crocheting for 20 years and crafting for 30 years. She has taught for 10 years to students as young as four years old and as old as 84. While her husband was serving in the US Air Force, she would form knitting and crocheting groups at every base. Knitting, crocheting and crafting has helped her deal with everyday stress.
