Description: 15-005 Basic MIG and TIG Welding
Prerequisite: Introduction to Welding and/or basic welding experience
Learn the fundamentals of the gas metal arc welding process (GMAW-MIG) and the gas tungsten arc welding process (GTAW-TIG). This course is designed to teach welders about arc welding safety and each student will get maximum arc time on their own welding machine. Gain confidence and skill with helpful hints and techniques, as well as a sound understanding of safety and arc welding. (REQUIRED FOR FIRST NIGHT OF CLASS: WELDING HOOD WITH #10 SHADE, SAFETY GLASSES, WELDING JACKET OR COAT, WELDING GLOVES, AND LEATHER WORK SHOES) Class limited to 10 students. 8 weeks/24 hours

Benjamin Dunbar is a graduate of the Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School Metal Fabrication shop and WTI Welding Technology school. He has over 18 years experience in the trades. Currently he is a Metal Shop manager for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
