Description: With the rise in number of fatal overdoses, clients with substance-use disorders (SUDs) experience pre-mature loss at much higher rates than the general population. While loss is a part of every human experience, it is one of the most difficult and isolating experiences to manage under the best of circumstances. Many people struggling with a SUD lack the skills and supports needed to cope with such situations. Supportive skill-building is especially important to help clients with substance use disorders deal with traumatic loss and maintain their recovery. This course will be taught by Heidi DiRoberto, LMHC and Yeonjoo Son, LMHC from Spectrum Health Systems.

Participants will:
Learn how to help clients identify emotions related to loss
Discuss skills to manage emotions and loss
Gain understanding on how to help clients acquire the skills needed and how to process emotions effectively

The schedule is as follows:
 8:30am Registration & Continental Breakfast
 9am to 12pm Training
12pm to 1pm Lunch (on your own)
