Have you always thought about trying watercolor painting? Here’s an enjoyable and informative 10-session course that will get you well on your way. It begins with an introduction to watercolor paints and supplies and moves on to basic techniques. The course will introduce four basic wash techniques, positive and negative painting, basic color tips, color wheel tips and tips for creating a color chart. As the students gain confidence, value and light answers, composition, design and creative techniques, basic framing, marketing, selling your art and helpful hints will be introduced. The atmosphere of the class is relaxed and encouraging. Please plan to bring the following supplies on the first night of class. Brush sets – between $5-$10 at Amazon, Michaels or Walmart. Size brushes that you will need: 1” flat, #2, #3, #6, #10 round to start. The best watercolor paper is Aches then Strathmore a little less expensive, and a variety of others. The paper needs to be 140 lb. cold press. The following is a list of watercolor colors to get you started (in tubes): alizarin crimson, quinacridone red, cadmium orange, cadmium yellow pale, yellow ochre, burnt sienna, phthalo green, phthalo blue, ultramarine blue, Payne’s grey (optional). Palette for you paints and mixing paints. 2B pencil, soft white eraser, ruler, water container, small squirt bottle, sponge, paper towels, color wheel. 10 weeks/20 hours

Christina Giza has been an accomplished artist for over 20 years. Her work has been displayed in many exhibits at the Worcester Art Museum, Arts Worcester Gallery, Sprinkler Factory Gallery and the Fitchburg Art Museum to name a few. She has taught art at The Victorian, Whitinsville, MA, five painting sessions in the Bay Path Adult Evening School program and also offers individual instruction. Christina looks forward to sharing her love of art with her students.
