| Description: | A series of lanscape paintings by Worcester-area artist Kami Tremblay. Tremblay describes her show: "Being out of your environment and experiencing new terrain, it is the littlest things that can have a lasting impression on your mind. I studied at an art academy in The Netherlands for 10 months. It was during the first few months that I could not exactly pin point why I was so intrigued by my surroundings environment. It was not until 1/2 way through my stay that I realized that I was captivated by the ever changing and interacting colors of the landscape. As a cyclist I spent many hours on a daily basis observing the same basic landscape that consisted primarily of the sky, tree line and farming land. Yet depending on the day the same landscape would look completely different depending on the time of day weather and cloud situation. Everyday after returning home from my raining session my mind was burned with a completely different combinations of colors. I felt a need to record these daily observations, so I decided to have stretched gessoed paper ready for me each day to express and record what colors had been observed that day. To the normal eye the same boring dutch landscape was ever changing and every day there was a new surprise. This body of work is a small sampling of the many paintings that I created between February through May 2003, from memory recollection after rides in the Enschede, The Netherlands region. |
