| Description: | This exhibition brings together the work of three artists, Armin Landeck, Olga Rothschild, and Michael Heming, each working in different media, with similar approaches to architectural subject matter. Each of them is interested in portraying the abstract qaulities of actual things. The subject matter consists of common architectural elements -- rooftops and facades, windows and columns, fire escapes and steps. The resulting prints, hooked rugs and photographs transform the three-dimensional elements into formalized pictorial spaces. Architectural patterns and shapes -- grids, diagonals and rediating lines -- inform all the works. People are infrequently depicted. Rather it is the viewer who inhabits and explores these two-dimensional worlds. An artists' reception will be held on September 8 fropm 5 to 7 p.m. |
